The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Qualifications:

NOTE: This IS a Remote role, but applicants must reside in the state of DE to be considered for this position.

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Conservation planning agriculture and natural resource management, or a related field of study. OR AA Degree in OR Certificate in Agricultural or natural resource management preferred.

  • Valid State Driver's license is required. Experience with landowner conservation programs is preferred.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access
  • PowerPoint.
  • Other Software: Adobe Acrobat experience may be helpful. Smart sheets, Concur, WebTA.
Duties:

Work will be performed in support of overall conservation delivery for the State Conservationist and partner organizations. Tasks will generally consist of assisting NRCS leadership and field offices with collecting data, analyzing financial decisions and recommendations, preparing reports, coordinating, and communicating with conservationists, engineers, customers and other NRCS personnel and partners. Examples of activities for conservation assistance covered by this agreement are as follows:

  • Assist State Conservationist and staff with Management and Strategy functions, planning, onboarding, and oversight of NRCS staff and partner affiliates to allow computer and permissions access to increase delivery of on the ground technical assistance to agricultural producers.   50%
  • Operational Support: Provide technical and operational support, recommendations, and implementation assistance on a wide range of Farm Bill programs, delivery tools, policy, and accomplishment reporting. This may include, but is not limited to, providing financial expertise and business tool support to internal and external customers and partners.   50%

  • Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasionally to satisfy the duties of the position or visits to local area field offices.
  • Required Safety Gear: Employee should wear clothing and footwear suitable for the duties identified for the daily tasks.
