Arnie's General Store Cashier

Summary:  To ensure all guests are greeted in a friendly and courteous manner, handle all payment transactions, maximize guest satisfaction and revenue.

Essential Functions:

  • Handle all cash and charge sales made through the General Store.
  • Needs to have strong cashier and money handling skills 
  • Operate Point Of Sale Software, Credit Card, and Gift Card machine.
  • Report stock levels of guest, retail and office supplies to the General Store Manager. 
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness for all areas within the department.
  • Report all incidents of guest dissatisfaction to the General Store Manager.
  • Assist guest with the highest level of professionalism possible.
  • Preform all store opening/closing procedures. 
  • Will perform other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience - One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills  - Must have basic computer skills, with the ability to learn new software in a timely manner; Point of Sale software experience a plus.

Other Skills and Abilities - The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work well with a team, effectively prioritize, proceed with a sense of urgency and a real concern for guest satisfaction.  Multi-tasking must be second nature.
