Golf Social Media Specialist

Position Summary: 

The Golf Social Media Specialist will work closely with the Digital Audience Coordinator and greater marketing team to spearhead social media for Big Cedar Golf and support social media for all hospitality brands. This position is responsible for promoting, maintaining and enhancing our brand image, voice and digital engagement across appropriate social media channels.  

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and creativity while developing social content that supports the strategic marketing and communications goals to help attract, inform and engage stakeholders (golfers, guests, partners, team members, and media outlets) via social channels and other forms of digital communication. Candidates with a love for and knowledge of the game of golf, watersports, shooting sports and the outdoors will be strongly considered. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Content Development & Execution: 

  • Plan, create and execute ongoing content strategies to advance Big Cedar Hospitality's mission online with the goal of spreading core stories (including positive reviews, testimonials, and influential content) and fostering an enthusiastic and passionate community to support Big Cedar Golf, Big Cedar Lodge, Top of the Rock, Angler's Lodge, Big Cypress Lodge, Bass Pro Shops Shooting Academy, and on-property marinas. 

  • Partner with in-house creators, influencers and third-party partners to create/capture photo and video assets for use on social channels. 

  • Generate, edit, publish and share engaging content daily (original copy, photos, videos, and news) 

  • Plan and schedule content appropriately within our social scheduling tools. 

  • Create and maintain customer response templates within social media management platform. 

  • Interact with online community members in a professional, personable and timely manner to grow and maintain audiences.

  • Plan and maintain outward appearance of social media channels (i.e. descriptions, highlights, cover photos etc.) 

  • Liaise with Guest Services and other departments regarding online customer requests, questions etc.?and build feedback into appropriate content strategies 

  • Review social media tags/mentions and engage accordingly. 

  • Deploy social listening tools within social media management platform to monitor positive/negative comments and topic trends. 

  • Generate reports on overall social channel stats and notable trends and provide meaningful feedback. 

 

Social Community Care:

  • Familiarize with Big Cedar Hospitality's following lists on social media for appropriate engagement/outreach. 

  • Ensure following lists are up to date and make changes when necessary.

  • Assist in monitoring when notable persons are on property to plan and execute content opportunities. 

 

 

Social Growth:

  • Find and participate in relevant discussions within social media groups and related industry channels. 

  • Build rapport and utilize peer insight with the social media teams at Bass Pro Shops and the Johnny Morris Foundation.   

  • Seek and share User Generated ContentFlag opportunities for UGC use across other marketing platforms. 

  • Foster and strengthen new relationships with key influencers and content creators within the community. 

  • Propose new strategies to promote engagement and community growth. 

  • Partner with the Director of Marketing and Asst. Director of Digital Marketing on development and execution of paid social campaigns. 

  • Act as point person for agency partners managing paid social and social retargeting.  

  • Suggest and implement new features to develop further enhance brand awareness. 

  • Set and monitor marketing goals for social media growth, engagement and more.  

 

 

Additional Responsibilities:    

  • Working knowledge of social media monitoring tools 

  • Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media 

  • Develop reports to inform social and communication efforts and evaluate campaign performance.  

  • Work with different groups throughout the company to develop and coordinate messaging 

  • Work quickly and efficiently 

  • Adhere to all company/department safety standards and policies.   

  • Stay up-to-date with the collection of Big Cedar Golf course offerings and operations 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education:   

  • Two years of experience in marketing, communications, advertising or administrative positions preferred.   

  • Proven work experience developing content for social media. 

  • Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research, and Google Analytics  

  • Analytical/Critical Thinking - The ability to gather and organize information using a logical and systematic process; recognize patterns and relationships in complex data; examine data to identify implications, problems and draw appropriate conclusions; generate alternative solutions to problems; evaluate strengths, weaknesses and consequences of alternative solutions and approaches to solving problems.  

  • Intermediate Computer Skills - Using basic computer hardware and software (e.g., personal computers, word processing software, Internet browsers, etc.). The ability to quickly master new software.  

  • Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.  

  • Originality - The ability to come up with unusual or clever ideas about products, services or situations, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem.  

  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. 

  • Writing - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.  

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
