Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in agricultural systems science with focus on soil and plant analyses associated with nutrient cycling, stocks and flows. OR PhD Degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Biology

  • Experience with soil and vegetation sampling and analysis in cropping systems. Familiarity with farming processes and equipment operations. Knowledge and experience in laboratories handling soil and vegetation sample analysis, and the integration of soil and plant laboratory analyses with climatic and hydrologic datasets.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
  • Google Earth
Duties:

Soil science and farming/agronomy advisement. Tractor and associated equipment operation. Field work, hot and cold conditions, lifting, working in areas with potential exposure to pesticides. The enrollee shall not sign federal documents, authorize the use of federal funds, nor initiate or conduct federally funded research projects. The enrollee shall not author articles for publication as a federal employee, nor coordinate scientific research between the Government and private industry. The enrollee shall not present themselves as a Government employee or Government representative at meetings both foreign and domestic or when coordinating federal agencies? areas of research. The enrollee shall not make decisions on federally based research on behalf of Government policy makers, and the enrollee shall not supervise any Government employees.   • Assist with sample collection-processing-analysis efforts associated with biomass collection from research plots and fields.   40%
  • Consult on farming research and implementation discussions, assist with the completion of ongoing manuscripts.   20%
  • Assist with documenting and reporting soils lab workflows, and metadata.   20%
  • Assist in mentoring of new staff and existing soils lab technicians.   10%
  • Assist with field days and research presentations.   10%
