Building Inspector II

We are adding to our Building Inspection Team! You'll inspect all phases of construction for code compliance across multiple disciplines, including building, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical. You'll also assist with code enforcement, business license reviews, plan checks, and serve as a public representative for the City of Branson.


POSITION SUMMARY: The Building Inspector II is responsible for inspecting all phases in all disciplines (building, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical) of construction progress for code compliance. To assist on an "as needed" basis in the fields of code enforcement, business license review, plans check/review, general office duties, and public relations as a representative of the City of Branson. This position reports directly to the Building Division Supervisor, or the Building Inspector III in their absence, and indirectly to the Director of Planning and Development. 

WORK HOURS:        Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

WORK LOCATION:   City of Branson, Missouri; City Hall.  This is an in office position requiring work to be performed onsite as well as in and around the City of Branson, Missouri

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:  The starting hourly wage is $23.02 per hour and will increase to $23.95 per hour after 6 months of successful probation

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Three (3) years of experience in construction trades is required.
  • One (1) year of experience as a Building Inspector is required.
  • Must possess or obtain within six (6) months of hire date, a minimum of three (3) of the following inspection certifications: International Code Council (ICC) Building, ICC Plumbing, ICC Electrical, ICC Residential, or ICC Mechanical. 
    • Certification must be current and maintained during term of employment.   
  • Additional licenses or certifications may be required for this position.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING

  • Graduation from an accredited technical school program is preferred.

MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license and be insurable under the City of Branson's motor vehicle coverage when operating a vehicle as a part of the position.
  • Must be highly engaged in the department's goals and be able to work cooperatively with Planning and Development's leadership in achieving those goals.
  • Must possess a high degree of integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service to those of internal or external to the department.
  • Must act safely and follow safety standards while at work.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug and alcohol screenings.
