National Operations Manager

 

Job Summary:

This position leads the overall production/distribution team for The Bay Family of Companies Metal Building Insulation divisions. Position acts as a liaison between MBI Divisions, MBI Sales, and the corporate team to ensure personnel and plant locations are operating in an efficient, professional, and customer service-oriented manner to assure high quality performance and output while promoting and maintaining a safe working environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages divisions with a safety-first focus and a preventative mindset.
  • Directly manages Regional Operations Managers team and support areas.
  • Provides leadership and direction for the day-to-day functions at the MBI plant divisions.
  • Facilitates safety, quality, and production improvements.
  • Determines operational metrics/standards and leads efforts for the divisions to achieve these and takes actions to address barriers.
  • Develops and mentors’ direct reports.
  • Reviews performance of divisions with reports to address issues and recognize outstanding performance.
  • Partners with corporate office management as needed.
  • Determines manufacturing, warehouse, and delivery best practices.
  • Monitors training, development, and succession plans.
  • Participates in the strategic and capital improvement planning process for plants.
  • Travels to plants to assist with management functions including vacations, hire and train managers, perform safety and inventory audits and investigate building leases, and to direct office/warehouse moves and updates as needed.
  • Work across locations to standardize operations and optimize “best practices”.
  • Works with the sales force to solve customer complaints and concerns.
  • Reports plant performance data and information back to the divisions on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Must be able to direct operations from long distances when required.
  • Will be required to perform all other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Education, Experience, KSA’s:

  • 10 years of managerial experience with multi-location manufacturing/distribution environments, preferred.
  • Degree in Business, Logistics, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent leadership skills to develop, mentor, motivate, empower, and hold others accountable.
  • A strong passion for safety
  • Ability to develop, focus on, and execute strategic plans.
  • Ability to use abstract thinking to drive improvements and problem solve.
  • Ability to listen and respond to others using good judgement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Solid computer skills in Word, Excel, and other software. 
  • Ability to travel to U.S. and Canada locations as required.
