Document Control Technician

Summary

The Document Control Technician assists the Engineering Systems Manager and Senior Document Control Specialist with the implementation and administration of a new Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) System for the control of Engineering Documents and workflows. The technician will drive future development of the Document Control Procedures and development of the digital data stream.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the team and collaborate with co-workers and colleagues in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
  • Assist with the development, implementation and execution of a new Document Control Management system.
  • Drive continuous improvement of process and document flow procedures.
  • Work on Document Control tasks with minimal supervision when necessary.
  • Assist Engineering, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Sales personnel with management and processing of controlled documents.
  • Work with departmental personnel to develop company-wide policies and procedures were necessary.
  • Perform administrative tasks to maintain the document management system.
  • Recommend changes and policies to improve and streamline the documentation process.
  • Support other departments as necessary in their needs for Configuration Management information.
  • Train employees on Document management systems.
  • Administer the collection, authorizing, publication, storage and retrieval of documents in Engineering Vault as well as appropriate network locations
  • Identify and assist in the resolution of roadblocks preventing the release of change notices.
  • Maintain integrity of the network folder structures and contents.
  • Identify opportunities and implement improvement to automations for Process Flows within the PLM structure to drive time savings and improved document quality.
  • Data and file maintenance activities as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, 3-5 years relevant Document Control & technical experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of fundamental Document Control processes
  • Self-motivated, self-directing work ethic
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite (including Excel, Word, Access, Visio, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Foundational knowledge of SolidWorks PDM vaulting (or similar document vaults), preferred
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Excel, and VBA, a very strong plus
  • Extremely well-organized with superior attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to effectively facilitate communication across the organization via strong interpersonal skills
  • Maintain a professional and cooperative attitude
  • Ability to effectively prioritize conflicting needs
  • Analytical acuity
