Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd Shift 2:15 - 11:30pm

SUMMARY:

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for directing the work activities of maintenance personnel, as well as contractors and vendors, engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining production machinery and equipment and directing fabrication and purchasing of parts/equipment as needed in the production operation.  The maintenance supervisor provides direct support of facility equipment for troubleshooting, repairs, technical advisor and “go-to” person for the operation. This supervisor also trains and/or recommends appropriate training programs for direct reports, prepares written performance issues, and consistently enforces company policies pertaining to safety, quality, workplace conduct, attendance, and daily direction for employees.  The maintenance manager will be the back-up for this position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees daily operations through work orders, Team Meetings, Email, and phone calls. Supervises daily maintenance operations of Facility Technicians. Reviews the performance of continuing contractors for compliance of terms and directs contractors when needed.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation
  • Listens for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling equipment; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining for wear or damaged parts.
  • Evaluate departmental needs and gathering supporting information to be used in the developing scope or work statements, to be used in competitive bids. Works with the procurement department in selecting bidders to develop these bids and in the selection of qualified bidders. Reviews the performance of continuing contractors for compliance of terms and directs contractors when needed.
  • Supervises staff members; supervisory duties include instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others using the work management system. Selecting new employees; acting on employee problems; approving employee discipline, and recommending transfers, promotions, discharge, and salary increases. Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy, approves leave requests and payroll, and prepares interim and annual evaluations.
  • Reviews maintenance procedures to ensure our methods are documented and performed to meet industry and departmental standards. This includes creating SOP's working with the training coordinator to ensure staff is properly trained and equipped.
  • Has understanding of electrical, hydraulics, pneumatic and combustion control systems.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, mechanical, hydraulics, and electrical drawings.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Leads or participate on committees/teams as directed by Maintenance Manager.
  • Build relationships with internal and external key stakeholders to understand their requirements and address requests/issues in a timely fashion.
  • Comply with FDA, USDA, and GMP policies.  Perform all tasks in a safe manner to ensure achievement of Quality, Food Safety, and Cost objectives.  Comply with all standard operating procedures and requirements under PRCP Quality System.
  • Participate in the quality improvement process.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
