Compliance Engineer

The Role -

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Compliance Engineer to work out of its state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY.

The Compliance Engineer will support the Compliance group to ensure we meet technical and quality standards for our military specification (Mil-Spec) products.  This role will assist in creating quality reports, documentation and procedures in relation to those products and proactively recommend solutions that will improve product, processes and overall performance with a focus on continuous improvement.  Responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of our products and procedures through implementation of quality control measures.  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues and drive continuous improvement that contributes to building high-quality products that exceed customer expectations and ensure Mil-Spec compliance.

The key responsibilities of the Compliance Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify and implement areas for improvement.
  • When issues arise, assist Engineering with the creation of customer notification documents.
  • Ensure swift and effective Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) relative to compliance and qualification activities.
  • Research and analyze current processes to design and enhance compliance programs and ensure their organization and success in support of continuous improvement objectives.
  • Isolate non-compliance issues and assist in resolution and disposition.
  • Lead compliance containment activities and manage internal and external quarantine results.
  • Ensure product transfers between facilities are compliant to Mil-Spec requirements along with documentation verifying actions.
  • Conduct audits at AAO facilities in direct relation to Mil-Spec compliance documentation and standards.
  • Prepare and present compliance and audit reports with analysis of statistics, and other data. Analyze, report and assist in resolution of any issues.
  • Update compliance knowledge as requirements change by tracking and reviewing updates to specifications.
  • Working knowledge of the Quality Manual, military specifications, ITAR requirements and the Quality system.
  • Participate in process and procedure documentation and improvements in relation to Inspection, In Process Checks (IPC), Quality and Test Lab.
  • Recommend updates to our Quality Management System (QMS) with incidents, fixes and improvements.
  • Determine quality metrics for all manufacturing procedures.
  • Monitor the entire production cycle to ensure Military Specification compliance and identify areas of improvement.
  • Prepare reports on malfunctions and corrective actions (e.g. number of defective raw materials per order).
  • Review current blueprints and quality documentation.
  • Audit internally all plants under our Quality Management Systems to ensure Mil-Spec compliance.
  • Ensure Distribution compliance to military specifications through audits and reporting and any necessary corrective actions.

Salary: $61,500 - $85,000

    • 30 Minute Drive from Binghamton, NY
    • 20 Minute Drive from Oneonta, NY

The Person -

The key skills and qualities of a Compliance Engineer at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent work experience preferred as a minimum.
    • Engineering degree and/or 3 to 5 years of experience preferred
  • Previous work experience as a Quality Engineer or similar role
  • A strong background in engineering or quality assurance, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
  • Familiarity with inspection tools, blueprints and military specification products.
  • Able to work in a production environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, business writing and phone etiquette.  Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Capable of working with and motivating employees to achieve company goals.
  • Hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and testing methodologies.
  • In-depth understanding of technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis.
  • Great attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Additional certification in Quality Assurance is a plus.
  • Travel – 15 to 20%
  • Frequent sitting, lifting (11-20 lbs.), walking, standing and computer use. 
  • Occasional reaching, twisting, bending, climbing, kneeling, squatting.
  • Able to lift and move boxes up to 20 pounds in weight.
