For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the Agricultural Research Service through the Experienced Worker Program (EWP). *This position will be open until filled. NOTE: This position has the option to work remotely.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Administrative Office OR AA Degree in N/A

  • Typing, electronic filing, speaking with customers.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
  • ARIS/CATS
Duties:

Provides a broad scope of program management administrative support for the Location including the following: Participates in program planning support work such as budget and procurement of supplies and equipment tracking. Uses an electronic calendar, database or spreadsheet software to document employee leave schedules and to commit time for appointments and meetings; transmits and receives documents and messages electronically. Develops and implements new systems or administrative processes to meet Location needs. Identifies, restructures, and recommends ways of eliminating, combining, simplifying or improving administrative and clerical office procedures and processes. Screens calls and visitors, answering most questions on established policy or routine matters. When calls are referred to the AO, the incumbent furnishes readily obtainable information to aid in the discussion. Coordinates the processing of manuscripts and reports for public information maintaining approval records for the AO. Participates in Program reviews and workshops; keeps managers and scientists informed of upcoming reviews; prepares handouts. Schedules conferences and meetings, including arranging logistics, preparing agendas, and notifying participants. Establishes, maintains and revises the office filing system. The enrollee shall not sign federal documents, authorize the use of federal funds, nor initiate or conduct federally funded research projects. The enrollee shall not author articles for publication as a federal employee, nor coordinate scientific research between the Government and private industry. The enrollee shall not present themselves as a Government employee or Government representative at meetings both foreign and domestic or when coordinating federal agencies? areas of research. The enrollee shall not make decisions on federally based research on behalf of Government policy makers, and the enrollee shall not supervise any Government employees.
