Summary

The National Sales Representative is responsible for enhancing and increasing the customer/shipper base of ATS Logistics Services through customer service, marketing, and sales. He or she will contact existing, inactive, or potential shippers to secure shipments for current and future carrier requirements; evaluate and maintain a shipper base in the data system on an ongoing basis; and maintain updated information on all available shipments. 

Education and Experience

  1. Higher education (i.e., two- or four-year degree) preferred but not required
  2. 1 or more year(s) experience B2B sales preferred
  3. A good understanding of marketing, sales, and customer service principles
  4. Self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit
  5. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the internet
  6. Strong sales and negotiation skills
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  8. Excellent time management and organizational skills
  9. Strong interpersonal skills
  10. Hard-worker with a drive for results who can persevere in the face of resistance or setbacks
  11. Strong work ethic and sense of integrity; trustworthy
  12. Creative in brainstorming and proposing new ideas and solutions to existing problems
  13. Excellent customer service skills
  14. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  15. Willing and able to travel occasionally, including overnight travel

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Attracts and retains qualified customers
  2. Negotiate rates with customers, entering and recording all terms and conditions of shipment agreements
  3. Qualifies new customers/shipments, matching ATS Logistics requirements with customers' needs and profile
  4. Responds to customers' requests for service and resolves issues
  5. Makes sales presentations
  6. Effectively communicates with the logistics operations team & other ATS operating divisions
  7. Manages a book of business in excess of a million dollars annually
  8. Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; respond well to questions; write clearly and informatively; able to read and interpret written information
  9. Balance team and individual responsibilities; give and welcome feedback; contribute to building a positive team spirit
  10. Set and achieve challenging goals; measure self against standard of excellence
  11. Infrequent travel may be required
  12. Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours
