Journeyperson Welder/Fabricator - Short Term Work For Non-Local Candidates

PTW is looking for Structural Steel Welder's and Fitter's for a term project in our Calgary fabrication facility. This posting is for candidates that are non-local to Calgary ONLY.  If you are a ticketed Journeyperson and are looking for short term work, we want to hear from you! 

GOOD TO KNOW 

  • Short term project (less than 60 days)
  • 5/2 schedule: Monday-Friday
  • 10 hours per day
  • Competitive rate and living out allowance (LOA)

A DAY IN THE LIFE…

  • Reads and interprets blueprints or welding process specifications and welding symbols.
  • Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
  • Removes welds using the Air Arc Gouging process.
  • Completes assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications.
  • Accurately completes time sheets, weight sheets, hazard analysis sheets etc.
  • Operates manual flame-cutting equipment.
  • Adjusts welding equipment and tooling according to work specifications.
  • Completes housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area on a daily basis and/or when required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Journeyperson Welder or Journeyperson Fabricator ticket required. 
  • Red Seal certification is required if residing outside of Alberta. 
  • Current CWB ticket in FCAW/MCAW. Must be "S" class, not "FW". 
  • Specialization in structural construction welding considered an asset.
  • Possesses solid understanding of welding equipment and welding accessories.
  • Possesses knowledge of pre-heat and post-heat temperatures and applications.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must live 100km outside of Calgary to qualify. 
  • Must have transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation.
  • Premium for night shift
  • Must supply basic hand tools.
  • Must have CSA approved steel-toed boots
  • Overhead Crane certification is an asset.
