Certified Veterinary Technician

Eau Claire Animal Hospital, is looking for a Full-Time Certified Veterinary Technician. We are fast-paced and high volume. We offer small animal and exotic veterinary medicine. Our years of dedication have earned us a repeated #1 spot for Best Veterinary Clinic in the Chippewa Valley. 

We are seeking a compassionate and hard-working individual to join own growing hospital.

Skills Required:

  • Monitoring, recording and reporting physical signs of pets.
  • Collecting blood, urine, and fecal samples as needed.
  • Client communication
  • Recording patient vitals, client communications and treatment plans into medical notes.
  • Responding to questions in person or over the phone.
  • Assisting Veterinarians as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

Veterinary Technicians and Assistants must have a broad knowledge of animal science and medicine. They must be able to successfully soothe, handle and restrain animals, large and small. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented and well-organized in order to take medical histories, carry out instructions, document patient statistics, and update records.

PERSONAL AND PHYSICAL:

  • Must be able to work evenings and Saturdays.
  • Must enjoy working with animals
  • Detail-oriented
  • Must possess sufficient strength and assertiveness to effectively restrain patients.
  • Must be able to be on foot a minimum of eight hours per day.
  • Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.
  • Must have strong communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a love of animals and patience when handling pets.
  • Must display a professional manner at all times.

Education/Experience:

  • High school 
  • CVT Program

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Starting at $21/hour and up dependent on experience.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
  • CVT Program graduate/licensed

  • Veterinary technician experience: 1 year (Required)
