Cost Analyst

The Costing Analyst responsibilities focus on the budgetary control system for multiple projects, through the preparation of cost reports, monitoring, analyzing, and demonstrating commitment to budget and forecast. The Costing Accountant/Analyst works with the project team members to maintain accurate, updated information throughout the project lifecycle.

As our Cost Analyst you:

  • Collaborate with the project management team to set up and close projects in the ERP system
  • Uploading of Work Breakdown Structure along with reallocations as required
  • Preparation of monthly cost projections for multiple projects/project managers
  • Coordinate and assist in the review of monthly re-forecasting with project managers
  • Identifies and investigates cost/revenue variances and performs corrective actions
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports/analysis to support Project Managers
  • Supports various levels of project reporting (including daily, weekly, and monthly)
  • Coordinate Time & Material billings, reviewing rates and mark-ups
  • Assist with month end processes & post necessary journal entries
  • Preparation of monthly financial business unit reports along with supporting schedules
  • Ensure understanding of admin/billing contents of the project contract
  • Responsible for accurate, timely coordination, collection, compilation, and proofing of financial reporting information
  • Working knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting for construction contracts
  • Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines and varying degrees of technical experience
  • Perform other duties as requested and required

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required
  • 2+ years of experience in cost accounting in a large organization
  • Experience in construction or related industry is preferred
  • SAP experience is a strong asset
  • Able to identify and investigate project cost variances
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge with Microsoft tools (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Able to work in a multidisciplinary project team environment
  • Self-motivated and works well in a team environment
  • Ability to handle strict deadlines and works well under pressure
  • Ability to perform with a high level of discretion, professionalism, and integrity
