Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in communications OR BA/BS Degree in communications, English, or related

  • Skills in communication, specifically website and web content development for the public. Knowledge of environmental and climate justice and building partnerships between federal agencies.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, Power Point
  • Adobe Acrobat; MS Teams, Outlook, Sharepoint, Common Spot (website platform)
Duties:

This position will support the Groundwork Program Manager and National Coordinator, Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance program with the development of web content, internal and external websites, articles, briefing memos, and research related to environmental and climate justice, brownfield reuse, equitable development, and other topics relevant to the Groundwork program and NPS partnerships with EPA, USDA, and other federal agencies.

  • Communications Specialist will assist Program Manager with website and web content development and communications products (briefings, one-pagers, etc) for the Groundwork and NPS-Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance (NPS-RTCA) programs. This duty includes coordination with national and community partners, interviews with community groups and staff, writing original content, and reviewing and editing web content.    60%
  • Communications specialist will assist with proposals and briefing materials for the purpose of improving awareness of Groundwork and NPS-RTCA programs, understanding of presidential initiatives, funding opportunities, and building new partnerships with EPA, USDA, and other federal agencies.   40%

Other:
  • Travel Requirements: Travel as needed to assist with the development of communication materials -- articles, web features, etc
  • Overnight travel: Approximately 2 to 5 day trips quarterly.
  • Air travel anticipated: Depending on enrollee location, air travel may be required
  • Rental cars: Depending on enrollee location, rental cars may be required
  • Physical requirements: Typically work indoors in an office setting with occasional automobile/airplane to field visits. Expect low impact walking in urban areas on variable terrain
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
