About NEW Solutions For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and other professional skills that support to the Bureau of Land Management through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). This position supports the Bureau of Land Management Oregon State Office in Portland, OR. This is a hybrid remote position. While most of the work can be done remotely, the enrollee will need to attend in-person meetings 1-2 times/month, so they will need to live in Western Oregon. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 769 hours. A background security investigation will be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the BLM or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under BLM direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. BLM ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree

  • 10+ years of experience in writing and editing. Experience in environmental planning is required. Experience with environment impact statements (EIS), environmental assessments (EA), timber, and/or NEPA documents preferred.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS PowerPoint
Duties:

This project is to write and edit an environmental impact statement (EIS) for a Resource Management Plan for timber and climate change. This will include a variety of written products including NEPA documents, briefing papers, and multi-media.

  • Physical requirements: This position will be in an office setting and will generally be sedentary, requiring working at a computer.
