Transit Dispatcher

Muscabus is looking for a friendly, organized person to work in dispatch. This position includes communicating with passengers regarding route and paratransit services, scheduling rides, dispatching vehicles, and communicating with drivers. This position is scheduled for 26-29 hours per week including some Saturday hours. Benefits include IPERS, paid time off, and holiday pay. 

  • Must have a High School Diploma
  • Experience in high volume telephone or radio operations
  • Good working knowledge of the geography of Muscatine, including the location of streets and key civic, retail, and medical locations 
  • General computer skills involving the use of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel and ability to adapt to various software
  • Strong customer service and verbal skills.
  • Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations.

Ability to obtain or possession of a Commercial Driver's license. Continued maintenance of the license throughout period of employment. Must be insurable by City's insurance carrier. Must also be able to pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check. 




Hiring Process
For civil service positions, applications are screened for minimum qualifications. Applicants meeting the criteria will be invited to participate in the civil service testing process.
