Intern Human Resources (Winter 2024/Spring 2025)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Human Resources Intern is an entry-level position, designed to support the HR team with an enthusiastic team member looking to gain experience in the HR profession. Primary duties consist of recruitment activities with focus on non-exempt, part-time positions. Position is part-time, non-exempt with a semester rotation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs recruitment activities, focusing on all non-exempt/hourly positions;
- Schedules interviews, answers basic questions from candidates, documents communications;
- Attends job fairs and provides administrative assistance as directed by HR Manager;
- Assists with I-9's and provides administrative support for all new hire activities;
- Assists HR Coordinator to perform various administrative duties, including filing, answering phones, and preparing folders and mail-outs;
- Supports HR team with New Hire Orientations, including presentations to small groups;
- Conducts online research, such as comp studies, to assist HR Manager or HR-VP;
- Provides excellent customer service to all applicants and employees;
- Supports other HR projects as needed or requested by HR Vice President.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a polished professional who can perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual should also have the following qualifications:
- Working towards a Bachelor's Degree and/or other major or minor directly related to Human Resources, Psychology, or Industrial Relations;
- Must have the ability to work in a team environment and handle several projects at once and under pressure
- Must have excellent customer service skills, with written and verbal communication skills;
- Must have excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail;
- Must have working proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Must demonstrate the highest degree of integrity as work involves access to confidential data.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, during events; the noise level may be loud
- Most work will be 9-5, with up to 6 occasions requiring evening attendance for job fairs or orientations;
- Requires the ability to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear and climb stairs up to 4 hours
- Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
