The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. Benefits: Paid Health Insurance Premium for positions budgeted at 60+ hours per pay period, Accrued Vacation and Sick Leave, Paid Federal Holidays, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available for positions budgeted at 35+ hours per pay period. Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in Grazing Managment OR MA/MS Degree in Plant Sciences

  • Valid State Driver?s license
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
Duties:

This position will support the NRCS Grazing program in Wisconsin by researching and developing science-based technical and educational materials and contributing to the training of staff on grazing management and grazing planning. The position will be part of a multi-agency team responsible for updating and generating technical materials for use by conservation professionals in their work with Wisconsin farmers.

  • Collaborates with subject-matter experts to develop original materials: new fact sheets, publication, presentations, and other resources to contribute to a resource library of managed grazing information for use by Wisconsin conservation professionals and their clientele.   25%
  • Provides support for authors in development of fact sheets and publications, ensuring materials are easy to understand, grammatically correct, and research based.   25%
  • Coordinates the updating of existing managed grazing resources by organizing the activities of multi-agency teams, including scheduling virtual and/or in-person meetings, ensuring the teams adhere to the timelines they?ve set for themselves, and managing logistics of the project(s).   25%
  • Contributes to planning, carrying out, and teaching the Grassland 2.0 Academy.   20%
  • Other related duties as assigned by the NRCS State Grazing Land Specialist.   5%

Other:
  • Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
  • Travel Requirements: In person meeting travel for events, such as topical technical training, typically 1 day. Occasional 2 - 5 day conference style events 1 - 2 times per year.
  • Overnight travel: Overnight travel will occur infrequently (e.g. conference attendance, multi-day meetings, etc.).
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
