Custodian

If you love to clean and have good attention to detail this manual work performing a variety of cleaning and custodial tasks at the Muscatine Art Center is right for you! This is a great part-time (20 hours/week) job with starting pay at $18.94/hour and IPERS, paid vacation and holidays.  The work mostly is routine and is performed in accordance with specific and detailed instructions. There is also some opportunity to learn tasks outside the regular work routine.  This work involves contact with office personnel and the public so good people skills are also important.

Duties include, but are not limited to: sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and waxing floors; cleaning walls, ceilings; dusting and vacuuming; washing windows both inside and out; polishing furniture, brass, fixtures, woodwork, bathrooms and replenishing supplies as needed, emptying trash, shoveling snow, some groundskeeping work, and assisting maintenance personnel as needed.

Must reside within 30 air miles of Muscatine city limits. Must be able to pass drug screen, physical, and background check.

 




Hiring Process
For civil service positions, applications are screened for minimum qualifications. Applicants meeting the criteria will be invited to participate in the civil service testing process.
