Painter/Maintenance Assistant – Full Time

We are seeking an experienced Painter/Maintenance Assistant to help maintain the prestigious appearance of our luxury assisted living community. You will be painting, staining and touching up high-traffic areas that may not be accessible during the day. At times, you may come into contact with residents, resident families, other guests and team members, and we expect you to maintain a friendly, courteous and positive attitude at all times, so that these encounters are pleasant and professional. The care, attention to detail and superior customer service you bring to your maintenance responsibilities are fundamental to the quality of life and the general wellbeing of our residents every day.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Applying paints, stains, surface preparatory materials, and undercoating materials to a variety of surfaces
- Using and operating required tools and equipment skillfully and safely
- Mixing and matching paints and varnishes
- Estimating time and materials required on widely varied assignments
- Following Materials Safety Data Sheets and ensuring compliance with hazardous materials guidelines, as appropriate
- Assisting with plumbing, carpentry, electrical, furniture assembly, snow removal, equipment repair, preventative maintenance and HVAC
The ideal candidate will have the following skills/ qualifications:
- Experience with the residential, commercial, and industrial practices and processes of the painting trade
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials and application techniques common to the painting trade, including paints, varnishes, lacquers, enamels, epoxies, paint removers and related materials
- Knowledge and skill in safely handling hazardous materials, including application and disposal
- Skilled in the preparation and application of paints, stains and surface preparation materials to a wide variety of surfaces (interior and exterior experience preferred)
- A proven ability to paint in a clean and precise manner
- You must be an independent worker and possess the ability to handle a job from start to finish
- Previous maintenance/repair experience is a plus
- Kind, patient and compassionate demeanor when encountering residents, management, family members and other guests
- Must have stable work history and solid work references
- A minimum of a high school diploma is required
