WHAT YOU'LL DO

Responsibilities of the Flight Test Engineer will include providing technical support for aircraft development and certification flight tests. Prepare flight test cards and document test results from test flights. Prepare flight test plans, Type Inspection Authorizations (TIA), Type Inspection Reports (TIR), and Pilot Operating Handbooks (POH).  Maintain communication between Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Test Support Departments. Other duties include:

  • Research test requirements and prepare test plans
  • Manage aircraft configuration and weight and balance
  • Maintain test program schedules
  • Engineering department support
  • Prepare and brief flight cards
  • Record real-time flight data and operate data acquisition systems
  • Reduce flight test data to standard day engineering units
  • Read and understand the requirements of Federal Aviation Regulations (CFR14 Part 23)
  • Attend technical classes, seminars, and safety courses to keep abreast of flight test practices
  • Maintain a working knowledge of FAA regulations, guidance material, and policies as they pertain to flight testing

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • 2-5 years of experience performing and conducting flight testing as a Flight Test Engineer
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Related Engineering Field
  • Ability to interpret and apply FAA regulations, orders, and guidance materials in the decision-making process
  • Strong understanding of aircraft operations including the airport operating environment
  • Private Pilot license preferred
  • Continued advanced training in flight test engineering
  • Experience with flight test data reduction methods, aircraft and data acquisition systems, radio communications, and flight test related safety devices
  • Travel and overtime are required when necessary
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future
