Engineering Technician

Summary

The Engineering Technician will support cable assembly manufacturing.  This position is to work in a manufacturing engineering environment producing high performance coaxial cable assembly prototypes and production assemblies for military and aerospace applications while working with Test Engineering for rework on failed cable assemblies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manufacture prototype cable assemblies.  Verify assembly procedures and recommend changes to engineering if required.
  • Process returned assemblies, verify complaint and work with Engineering and Quality Assurance to resolve problem.
  • Support manufacturing efforts regarding product performance and test issues.
  • Read work orders and manufacturing process instructions, follow production drawings and assembly instruction sheets, and/or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Assist in creating and/or updating work instructions and test procedures.
  • Confer with technical personnel and engineering support to report and resolve technical, assembly problems, and report unresolved problems.
  • Repair broken or damaged cable assemblies.
  • Train/retrain operators on assembly techniques/soldering.
  • Troubleshoot product failures.
  • Work jointly with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations on developing tools, fixtures, and equipment to improve product quality and process efficiency.
  • Knowledge of facility layout and equipment installation
  • Other manufacturing duties as delegated by Supervisor

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • J-STD-001 Solder Trainer Certification
  • Mission oriented; an individual with strong desire to persevere so that a project is accomplished regardless of obstacles.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Hands on, self-starter with enthusiastic attitude and well-developed work ethic.
  • Mechanical aptitude with affirm and solid comprehension of electrical characteristics.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, assembly, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience with the manufacture, maintenance and test of RF and microwave components, systems, and test equipment.
  • Position requires periodic travel up to approximately 10%.
  • Proficiency with standard PC software such as MS Word, and MS Excel.
