We have over 62,600 square feet of best-in-class facilities located in South Boston, VA, including offices, sheet metal fabrication, plumbing and piping fabrication, and warehousing. We are currently looking to add a Commercial HVAC Startup/Service Technician to our team! This position is for performing the startup of commercial HVAC systems that range from new construction, renovation projects, and retro fit applications as well as initial service on units while following the five core values of Comfort Systems USA: Be Safe. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform startup of commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop package units, split systems, VRF systems, water source heat pumps, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, hot water/chilled water air handlers, hydronic pumps, starters, and variable frequency drives.
- Collaborate with estimators, project managers, electricians, control contractors, test and balance agencies, and other trades to ensure installations meet manufacturer recommendations and engineer specifications.
- Work directly with commissioning agents, controls contractors, and engineers to verify system performance and compliance with design specifications.
- Conduct owner training on installed systems and handle warranty calls during the warranty period.
- Assist with the installation of small refrigeration piping systems, electrical wiring and terminations, electrical conduit, and small piping applications as needed.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in the commercial HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of various HVAC systems and components, including but not limited to chillers, boilers, and VRF systems.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to work alongside various stakeholders and trades.
Certificates:
- Universal Refrigeration Certificate (must have or obtain).
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
Education:
- HVAC technical school degree preferred.
