WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a member of the Purchasing Team, the Purchasing Agent is responsible for order placement from our vendors and suppliers. Tasks include utilization of our forecasting system, projecting stock levels, monitoring the timeliness of deliveries, ensuring the adequate supply of all required materials, components and equipment, delivering cost savings for the company, managing supplier relationships including price negotiation, helping to source alternative items, resolving disputes and claims with vendors and suppliers, maintaining current and accurate supplier programs, developing new relationships with distributors, and working to create and promote a safe environment. Some overtime and weekend hours may be requested. Other expectations may include:
- Verify purchase requisitions generated by our forecasting system
- Project stock levels, monitor deliveries, ensure the adequate supply of all required materials, components and equipment
- Prepare purchase orders and verify specifications and price
- Place orders with vendors and suppliers and continue to follow up to ensure delivery deadlines are met
- Keep information accessible by sorting and filing documents
- Provide purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
- Source alternative items as requested
- Resolve disputes and claims with vendors and suppliers
- Develop new relationships with vendors and suppliers
- Process returns for non-conforming materials and products
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
- 2+ years of Purchasing experience
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, self-motivated, and prompt
- Strong time management skills
- Friendly personality and good communication skills
- Ability to stay organized and deliver in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion and move about the facility to support the work
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future
