GS Event Dispatch

Position Overview:

Answers, directs, responds, and dispatches all phone calls, radio calls, and text messages before, during, and after events.                                                          

Essential Functions: include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Logs all radio calls in the computer system that pertains to the event such as set up, housekeeping and general maintenance before, during, and after events
  • Makes quick decisions based on information given
  • Answers multiple phone lines, both internally and externally
  • Answers all phone calls and provides correct information or directs phone calls to the appropriate department
  • Dispatches all radio calls with correct information to appropriate departments
  • Follows up to ensure dispatched calls are completed
  • Broadcasts radio transmissions as necessary
  • Responds to and dispatches all text messages from patrons during events using an internet based-platform.     
  • Emails nightly incident report & text message logs to designated arena personnel
  • Works with Guest Services Managers on special projects
  • Stays current with event related developments and building knowledge
  • Follows policies and procedures as set forth by the Guest Services Department
  • Demonstrates on time attendance and works scheduled events
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal clients and all departments
  • Shares knowledge of prescribed protocols for all emergency situations
  • Communicates emergency situations quickly, calmly, and accurately to Command Center

Education & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • A minimum of three months related experience or training
  • Ability to use a computer for scheduling purposes, dispatch reports, text messaging service, and incident reports
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Requires extensive mobility to walk, sit, and stand for up to 6 hours without a set break
  • Requires extensive mobility to walk up and down aisles and stairs for up to 6 hours per event, and to move quickly between floors
  • Requires the ability to use hands and fingers to type quickly and accurately
  • Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
  • Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 10-20 pounds
  • There are no set breaks; breaks are discretionary 
  • Noise level in work areas is usually moderate, however, during events; the noise level may be loud
  • Employees must be able to work on evenings, weekends and holidays as required
  • Requires ability to perform all essential functions indoors/outdoors exposed to the elements (heat, cold, humidity, rain, snow, and wind).”
