Position Overview

As a Domestic Couple, you will share responsibilities encompassing comprehensive household stewardship, high-end service, and personal care for the principal and the residence. One partner will primarily focus on Butler duties, while the other will be responsible for Full-Charge Housekeeping. One of you is an excellent Cook or Chef. This collaborative role ensures every aspect of the estate is managed with the utmost care and professionalism.

 

This is a wonderful opportunity for a yachting couple who wants land-based roles.

 

Butler Responsibilities:

• Service & Hospitality: Formal and informal table setting, serving, and clearing; bartending and light meal coordination; greeting and announcing guests, and orienting overnight visitors to home amenities; coordinating with Housekeepers and supporting all events, from intimate dinners to larger gatherings.
• Inventory and care of fine china, crystal, silver, artwork, and antiques; polishing, seasonal decor setup, and organization of storage and basement areas; oversight of repairs and maintenance needs in conjunction with the Property Manager; recycling, trash removal, and general estate readiness; winding clocks, monitoring remotes/batteries, and checking security of premises nightly.
• Clothing & Personal Care: Shoe care, wardrobe organization, and seasonal closet transitions; assisting in linen care, dry cleaning drop-off/pick-up, and daily wardrobe readiness.
• Driving & Errands: Driving the principal as needed; running errands including groceries, dry cleaning, floral arrangements, and mail; maintaining a valid driver's license and personal vehicle.

 

Full-Charge Housekeeper Responsibilities:

• Immaculate Housekeeping: Daily and deep cleaning of the home, including taking meticulous care of fine furnishings, antiques, and high-end materials.
• Laundry & Linens: Detailed laundry care, including fine linens.
• Kitchen Duties: Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and organization, with the ability to assist with some meal preparation.
• Household Care: Expertise in caring for delicate items such as crystal, silver, fine linens, and artwork.

 

Culinary Responsibilities:

• One or both of you can prepare lovely meals for the principal and or small dinner parties.
• You must have prior experience cooking for other private families.

 

Qualities We Are Seeking

• Prior butler or high-end service experience (private homes, hospitality, or yacht service preferred) for the Butler role, and proven experience with verifiable references in a similar role within a fine home or on a private yacht for the Housekeeper role.
• Poised, discreet, and attuned to the needs of others with a quietly proactive approach.
• Flexible and unflappable under changing schedules, with impeccable standards and strong organizational skills.
• Expertise in the care of fine materials and luxury household items.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with existing staff.

• Driving Requirement: Both partners must possess a valid driver's license and dependable vehicle, and be comfortable driving the principal locally as needed.
• Legal to work in the U.S., with strong references.

 

Schedule

• Generally, the schedule for both roles will be Monday to Friday daytime hours.
• The Butler typically works 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and the Housekeeper 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
• When the principal is in residence, schedules will shift to include longer days and some weekend hours to assist with entertaining. Candidates must have this flexibility.
• To offset longer weeks, the principal is happy to offer some shorter weeks when not in residence.

 

Compensation

• The annual base compensation for the Butler ranges from $125,000 to $175,000. To be at the higher end of this range, candidates must have ample experience and the ability to both serve and cook.
• The compensation for the Housekeeper ranges from $93,000-$104,000. This can go higher for an excellent cook capable of preparing meals for the principal when they are in residence.
• Both positions offer benefits, including family health insurance, PTO, holidays, and an annual discretionary bonus. There is also the option to live in if preferred, though it is not a requirement.
