Qualifications:

Minimum of 25 year(s) of experience in Geology/Hydrology OR MA/MS Degree in Geology/Hydrology OR Previously completed training in Conductivity Profiling of Island Aquifers

Duties:

This position involves serving as a technical specialist for groundwater monitoring programs, focusing on the review, audit, and quality assurance of groundwater records and salinity profile time-series data to ensure accurate information that supports water resource management and public safety. The hydrologist will provide expert guidance on groundwater assessment techniques and saltwater intrusion analysis while mentoring junior staff to maintain program continuity and build institutional capacity. This groundwater monitoring specialist position is designed to strengthen the Pacific Island Water Science Center's capacity for freshwater lens characterization and protection in tropical island environments. The role addresses critical water security challenges unique to island communities, where freshwater resources exist as thin lenses floating above saltwater in highly permeable coral and volcanic aquifers.
