HR Systems & Operations Manager

UB Greensfelder LLP has an opening for a full-time HR Systems & Operations Manager in the Human Resources Department to work in the Cleveland or St. Louis office. The HR Systems & Operations Manager will lead the strategic selection, implementation, and integration of a new Human Resources Information System (HRIS). This role will serve as the architect of HR systems, policies, and infrastructure, ensuring alignment across HR, Finance, IT, and Talent functions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in payroll operations, HR technology, and compliance, with a track record of leading enterprise-wide change and building scalable, integrated systems.

Key Responsibilities

HRIS Strategy & Implementation

  • Lead the full lifecycle of HRIS selection, including RFP development, vendor evaluation, and contract negotiation.
  • Oversee system implementation, data migration, testing, and go-live planning.
  • Collaborate with HR (Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition) Finance, IT and Professional Development to ensure system integration and workflow optimization.

  • Manage transition from current HRIS to new platform with minimal disruption.

Payroll & Benefit Systems Oversight

  • Assume ownership of payroll and benefits systems, including vendor management, upgrades, and issue resolution.
  • Lead integration of payroll and benefits platforms into the new HRIS.
  • Analyze and redesign payroll and benefits workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Support audit readiness and ensure documentation of payroll and benefits processes.

Systems, Policies & Infrastructure

  • Own the architecture and governance of HR systems and operational infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain scalable processes for policies, forms, audits, and compliance documentation.
  • Standardize and document HR operational workflows in collaboration with the HR team.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports for payroll trends, benefits utilization, and compliance metrics.
  • Provide data insights to support Finance, HR, and executive decision-making.

Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead change management efforts to drive adoption and engagement across the organization.
  • Develop training materials and lead sessions for HR, payroll, and benefits teams on new systems and processes.
  • Build credibility and trust with cross-functional partners through transparency and collaboration.
 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive HR operations or HRIS experience, including system implementation leadership.
  • Deep understanding of payroll systems, benefits administration, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven success managing large-scale change initiatives and cross-functional projects.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
  • Experience with systems such as Workday, UKG, ADP, SAP SuccessFactors, or similar platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, IT, or related field.
  • Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment is a plus.

Skills and Competencies

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); PowerPoint is a plus.
  • Experience with HRIS systems; ADP experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
