Houseman

We have clients in Manalapan who are seeking a polished and professional, full-charge Houseman. This is a great full-time, year-round role with a principal that offers professional development opportunities. The right candidate is a self-starter who enjoys hands-on cleaning, providing elevated service, and has mechanical aptitude.

 

Responsibilities

• Perform a daily walk-through of the residence.
• Work alongside the team to ensure daily tasks are performed, including vacuuming, dusting, floor care, etc.
• Provide informed care of museum-quality furnishing, specialty materials and surfaces (e.g., antiques, artwork, marble, brass, china, crystal, silver, and fine linens, etc.)
• Mechanical aptitude including some understanding of residential systems (HVAC, smart home systems, pools, and plumbing) so you can troubleshoot and ensure vendor work is appropriately completed.
• Perform household maintenance tasks (polish hardware, change filters, lightbulbs, batteries).
• Assist the team with household laundry; perform hand-washing, ironing, pressing, and steaming of garments and linens.
• Serve as valet for the principals for clothing, shoes, and accessories.
• Assist with serving and cleaning up for dinner parties and other events.
• Manage the kitchen to ensure cleanliness and maintain a record of family and guest food preferences.
• Communicate effectively with the Director of Residences and other team members.
• Keep storage areas, garage, patios, and walkways clean.
• Provide care for the family's dog.
• Run errands as requested.

 

Qualifications

• Prior experience working in a similar position in a private home or luxury hotel property with a desire to offer five-star service.
• Understanding of proper protocol, etiquette, and elevated service standards.
• Excellent cleaning skills, including knowledge in the care of fine materials and furnishings.
• Knowledgeable about the various styles of table service; familiarity with wine and/or willingness to learn.
• Professional demeanor and appearance with a positive, pleasant personality.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization.
• Works well as part of a team; all hands-on deck attitude.
• Unflappable and discreet.
• Superior communication skills. Strong English is required.

 

Schedule

Generally, Wednesday to Sunday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with the flexibility to work additional hours as needed.

 

Salary and Benefits

• Excellent salary of $45/hour commensurate with qualifications and experience.
• Benefits include health, dental, vision insurance, annual discretionary bonus, 401(k), PTO, and paid holidays.
