Qualifications:Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree in Agriculture, natural resources, agronomy or related field of study - Experience in USDA FOIA process and execution. Experience with USDA and Forest Service information systems and relevant law, regulation, and policy.
- Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
Duties:This position supports Public Affairs, Administration, and Partnerships as a subject matter expert.
Functions may include drafting documents or correspondence, interfacing with partners or the general
public, assisting with coordination and staffing for external events, and responding to Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA) requests. - Assists with managing information; analyzing and presenting data; and drafting documents. Helps with the development of grants and/or agreements. Provides service and information to public visitors at the Supervisor's Office. Performs a wide variety of administrative support and office management work. 40%
- Incumbent is a technical and administrative advisor/mentor to staff for matters relating to law, regulation, and policy. Serves as a subject matter expert regarding FOIA and assists Forest and Regional staff with gathering and evaluating records for FOIA requests. 20%
- Assists public affairs staff with developing digital information and products to enhance public understanding and engagement relating to Forest activities. Assists with developing internet content and maximizing media visibility. 20%
- Coordinates with other staff to host external events. Participates in school visits, community events, and recruitment/outreach activities. 20%
Other:- Travel Requirements: Occasional local travel may be required for participation in special events.
- Health and Safety Considerations: Driving: if operating a vehicle is necessary, the incumbent will have completed the Forest Service required driver training and certification prior to operating a government vehicle.
- Physical requirements: Work is primarily in an office setting with minor physical demands. The incumbent occasionally handles office equipment or supplies, organizes file boxes, or receives parcels from the mail. Assists with carrying equipment or materials when attending external events.
