Qualifications:Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Interpretive design and project management OR BA/BS Degree in History, Interpretive Design, Project Management, or related - Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
Duties:Provide technical interpretive and design expertise to New Orleans Jazz NHP and Jean Lafitte National Park and Preserve. Support JELA with the development of an Interpretive Wayside Plan for the Barataria Unit, as part of a broad effort by the park to improve and renovate their trails within this park unit, and to identify which trails to keep open or abandon due to effects of climate change. Assist JELA/JAZZ with continuing planning efforts to develop exhibit plans for the 419 Decatur Street Visitor Center that incorporate JAZZ and JELA interpretive themes and topics. Position may be intermittent and work in different phases of the project. - Assess current wayside content, evaluate results of scoping trips and resulting recommendation, develop themes and topics, assess wayside image and map needs, identify appropriate locations of new waysides along the trail system, and submit a final wayside plan. 75%
- Using good interpretive planning practices, will help identify interpretive media deficiencies in the VC, update the Theme and Concept Document, and consult on the design and installation of new exhibits. Planning will ensure that essential park values and experiences are accessible to visitors, and that facilities and media are designed to accomplish visitor use and resource preservation goals. Planning should be a dynamic, continuing process. 25%
Other:- Travel Requirements: Travel to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve FQ unit during the length of the project
- Overnight travel: Travel may be required periodically throughout the length of the project
- Air travel anticipated: Best mode of transportation may be required periodically throughout the length of the project
- Rental cars: during trips to the park
- Physical requirements: Position is primarily sedentary with occasional visits to the visitor center site and park headquarters.
- Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
