Boat Mechanic

Location: Katherine Landing-Bullhead City, Az.

Classification: Regular, Non-Exempt


Summary

The Mechanic performs a range of duties and responsibilities that may differ from day to day depending on the job they are assigned, from routine maintenance work to specialized repairs.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses vehicles, watercraft, and/or machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues.
  • Provides routine inspections of vehicles, watercraft, and/or machinery and communicates problems, defects and issues.
  • Runs diagnostics with provided diagnostic equipment.
  • Prepares quotes and work estimates as needed.
  • Keeps an accurate log of all work performed.
  • Maintains parts inventory by logging parts and tracking parts usage.
  • Maintains and cleans tools and equipment to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition at all times.
  • All other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  •  Knowledge of mechanical system components such as valves, bearings, gears, remote operators, couplings, system alignment, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, sketches, written technical instructions and manuals, and design recommendations.
  • Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, email and internet navigation.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable through our motor vehicle carrier.
  • The ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

For Marine Mechanics 

  • Ability to troubleshoot, disassemble, clean, assess, and inspect marine systems including, but not limited to, Mercury and Evinrude.
  • Working knowledge of breaking down and rebuilding lower drive units.
  • Ability to handle chase calls to replace props and conduct other minor repairs on boats that are out on the lake.
  • Outboard Certification (Mercury, Evinrude preferred).
  • Prior marine mechanic experience.
