Position Title: Environment, Health & Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) Program Manager

Location: Valley Green, PA

We are currently seeking an Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist.  The EHS Specialist will ensure environmental, health and safety programs are fully implemented and its policies complied with. The EHS&S Program Manager will also be responsible for compliance with applicable state, local and federal environmental and safety laws and regulation

 Responsibilities: 

• Develop or update policies and procedures targeted toward increasing personnel safety and protection of the environment.

• Work with employees to create and sustain a proactive safety culture where EHS&S is built into operations.

• Develop and sustain inspection programs within the EHS&S management system and manage the closure of any findings discovered during audits.

• Consult with management and employees on Federal, State, and Local regulatory compliance related issues.

• Plays an active role in the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification, programs, and maintenance process.

• Conducts monthly safety committee meetings.

• Ensures proper training programs are available and assigned to the appropriate employees with regard to environmental, health, and safety compliance.

• Investigates safety complaints, serious accidents, repetitive injuries, unsafe conditions and practices and environmental incidents found in the plants and offices. Manages workers compensation claims reporting.

• Assures proper waste management, recycling, disposal, inspections, and assists with recordkeeping as required.

• Responsible for timely submission of EHS&S reports and permits to applicable US, PA, and other regulatory agencies.

• Work with Site Leadership to update or develop cost savings initiatives to ensure business continuity. Work closely on goals that drive continuous improvement.

• Provide lead support and formal response to any agency inspections conducted by US or PA regulatory bodies (e.g., OSHA, EPA, etc.).

• Work with Facilities on projects requiring EHS&S considerations.

• Monitor and drive progress of EHS&S projects and programs while maintaining budget and schedules.

• Lead the selection process for hiring third party service firms, evaluating proposals, conducting interviews, and making recommendations to senior management.

• Clarify, define and assist in enforcement and application of regulatory and Company policies and practices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or related technical discipline with 8+ years current EHS&S experience in a manufacturing environment.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

• In-depth knowledge of environmental, health, safety and sustainability regulations required.

• CHMM and CSP certifications preferred.

• Hazmat Ground Shipper Certification (DOT) will be required.

• Sound working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and government regulatory requirements/guidelines.

•  Proficiency in EHS Database software, Project Management software, MS Office Suite, including Excel and Word and Power Point required.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines. Ability to communicate and influence senior management on EH&S compliance initiatives.
