Buyer (Direct Materials)

The Role -

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Buyer (Direct Materials) to work out of its state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY.

The key responsibilities of the Buyer (Direct Materials) include, but are not limited to:

  • Acquire needed materials and services meeting operational objectives of quality, price, delivery, and service
  • Develop sourcing strategies to maximize price, delivery, and quality
  • Develop global suppliers with collaboration of Sourcing Engineers
  • Analyze supplier proposals to determine best source of supply
  • Review Materials Requirements Plan in support of production requirements
  • Implement and manage consignment, Kanban, and purchase agreements
  • Negotiate and implement cost savings to meet operational targets
  • Continuously evaluate supply base performance and implement improvement counter measures
  • Collaborate with Planning, Quality, Marketing and Engineering functions
  • Conduct make v. buy decisions to ensure outsourcing is competitive and adheres to production requirements
  • Support department Small Business Administration objectives

Salary - $58,460 - $80,000

Location -

  • Sidney, NY
  • 30 Minute Drive from Binghamton, NY
  • 20 Minute Drive from Oneonta, NY

The Person -

The key skills and qualities of a Buyer (Direct Materials) at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • Full knowledge of MRP
  • Skilled with using Microsoft Excel
  • Effective writing and speaking skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or a technical field
  • 2 years metal machining experience
  • At least 10% of time requires both domestic and international travel to supplier locations
  • Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Must comply with all Purchasing Procedures and Policies
