The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day.

Qualifications:Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in researching, planning and/or implementing agricultural and natural resource management and soil health programs. Operational skills and general knowledge of NRCS's technical tools and programs. OR MA/MS Degree in Natural Resources, Agriculture or related. - Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access

Duties:Assist with Farm Bill program planning and implementation. - Assist in technical data gathering (in field and office), literature reviews, and summary and compilation of gathered information for use in national-level technical and programmatic products. 50%
- Assist in inventorying, assessing, planning and monitoring of conservation practices, including use of NRCS's inventory, assessment, planning and monitoring technical tools for the soil health program. 30%
- Provides training, mentoring and coaching to less-tenured staff that are assigned to work within the soil health program area on NRCS's inventory, assessment, planning and monitoring processes. 10%
- Assist the Soil Health Discipline Lead with other activities that support Farm Bill Program planning, implementation and monitoring as needed. 10%
Other:- Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
- Travel Requirements: Occastional travel to Washington, DC and other FPAC hubs may be needed a few times a year for collaboration on specific projects.
- Overnight travel: 5 days per quarter of the year.
- Air travel anticipated: 1 trip per quarter of the year.
- Rental cars: 5 days per quarter of the year.
- Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
