Duties:The EWP enrollee would assist with the setup, operation, communication, and function of a new Near-Infrared (NIR) spectrophotometer, as well as the development and transfer of NIR calibration models for predicting plant composition. The EWP enrollee would work with existing support staff to effectively manage and maintain the NIR systems, plant samples, and data for processing and archiving. The EWP enrollee would assist with finalizing data analysis for scientific manuscripts.
The enrollee shall not sign federal documents, authorize the use of federal funds, nor initiate or conduct federally funded research projects. The enrollee shall not author articles for publication as a federal employee, nor coordinate scientific research between the Government and private industry. The enrollee shall not present themselves as a Government employee or Government representative at meetings both foreign and domestic or when coordinating federal agencies? areas of research. The enrollee shall not make decisions on federally based research on behalf of Government policy makers, and the enrollee shall not supervise any Government employees.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The work requires some physical exertion, such as regular and recurring walking or bending. In many situations the duration of the activity (such as most of a workday) contributes to the arduous nature of the job. In other situations, there may be special requirements for agility or dexterity such as exceptional hand/eye coordination. - Performs one or more phases of the setup, operation, function, and calibration of NIR laboratory equipment and software for plant compositional analysis. 50%

- Collects, prepares, evaluates, and verifies samples and supporting records; maintains records and locates and compiles data and other information from various sources. 20%
