For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the Agricultural Research Service through the Experienced Worker Program (EWP). *This position will be open until filled. NOTE: This position has the option to work remotely; estimating one week of travel per month.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 25 year(s) of experience in a federal government administrative role. OR BA/BS Degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, or Soil Science.

Duties:

The EWP enrollee would serve as administrative advisor to Plains Area leadership and Plains Area locations management on administrative topics including human resources, budget, acquisition, property, personal security, facilities and others. Enrollee would assist in training new Administrative Officers and other administrative positions as needed. Enrollee would advise leadership on federal policies, regulations and procedures and provide guidance on hiring authorities, personnel processes and development of new position descriptions. This position has the option to work remotely; estimating one week of travel per month.

  • Serves as administrative advisor to Plains Area leadership and Plains Area location management on a variety of administrative subject areas.   50%
  • Training new Administrative Officers and other administrative positions.   30%
  • Provides guidance on hiring authorities, personnel processes and development of new position descriptions.   20%

Other:
  • Travel Requirements: Enrollee would travel to ARS locations as needed to provide one-on-one training of new administrative personnel.
  • Overnight travel: Estimating 1 week a month.
  • Air travel anticipated: Estimating 1 week a month.
  • Rental cars: Estimating 1 week a month.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
