Communications Content Manager

Definition and Examples of Work

  • Assist in creating and implementing a strategic communications plan by managing communication strategies and tactics that advance KTA's brand identity.
  • Oversee the process of content creation from initial draft through final product in collaboration with other communications team members.
  • Compose, edit and proofread text; produce and review graphic, video and photographic illustrations that support communications plans and other public relations activities.
  • Optimize social media channels of KTA, creating content to fit demographics of channel, while increasing reach and strengthening brand.
  • Monitor, respond and engage with the public via social channels and other means, gauging sentiment, tracking issues and resolving complaints.
  • Coordinate with various community partners to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities to share KTA stories and brand.
  • Identify stories for content pieces including social media posts, media placement, blogs, articles, etc.
  • Coordinate safety campaigns with external and internal partners, e.g., Work Zone Awareness, etc.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as business needs require.

Latitude and Impact of Position

This position works independently and as part of a team, including providing input and problem solving with others to complete tasks. While not a supervisory role, this position provides coaching and training in an informal manner and participates in short-term and long-term planning. Negotiation, diplomacy, and persuasion is used with external customers. Decision making is typically done in conjunction with others and independently in regard to decisions affecting the individual tasks and department policy. Successful completion of job tasks may impact procedures of team, customer satisfaction, and company image.

QUALIFICATION

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated success in planning, managing and executing communications plans, social media initiatives and community networking/outreach.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to vary style based upon audience and platform.
  • Ability to take complex information and communicate it in a way that is clearly understood for multiple audiences.
  • Strong oral communication skills with the ability to engage others whether individually or in a group.
  • Familiar with using social media platform analytics and basic knowledge of paid social media marketing.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at a time, working with campaign plans and timelines while meeting deadlines.
  • Flexible and collaborative, with a willingness to learn and take direction from others.
  • Ability and willingness to perform both strategic and tactical elements of the role.
  • Knowledge of Apple/IOS computers and products.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Window operating systems and associated computer programs and processes.
  • Basic graphic design, photography and video skills.
  • Corporate communications.
  • Measuring communication effectiveness.
  • Working knowledge of Asana, Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Cloud, PhotoShop and related programs.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in public relations, social media marketing, communications, journalism or related degree.
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in public relations, social media, journalism, or a communications field and/or industry.
  • Solid experience using Excel, Word, PowerPoint and related programs.

Certification, License, Registration

  • Valid driver license.

  • Typically works Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. but occasionally must adapt to a varied schedule within a 24/7 operation to meet business needs.
  • Occasional travel during work hours with some overnight travel, as needed.
