Accounts Receivable Specialist

Southeastern Equipment, a privately held dealership, is looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist. The ideal candidate is proficient in meeting deadlines and working efficiently. This position may offer a hybrid work schedule. Our main office location is in Cambridge, OH.

Primary Responsibility Summary 
 
The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for managing credit limits, overseeing past due accounts, and ensuring effective collections processes. This role involves evaluating and assigning credit limits, handling credit overrides, collecting past due balances, and coordinating with collection agencies. Regularly review outstanding balances and recommending accounts for write-offs as necessary.

Responsibilities 
 
Credit Limit Management 
 

  • Review and assign credit limits to customers based on creditworthiness. 

  • Release documents for credit override when necessary. 

  • Monitor and adjust credit limits to mitigate risk and support business growth. 

  • Oversee and manage our vendor credit account program.  
     
     

Collections and Past Due Management 
 

  • Collect past due balances and assign delinquent accounts to collection agencies. 

  • Regularly review all outstanding balances. 

  • Write credits as needed, ensuring proper approval and processing. 
     
     

Account Review and Write-offs 
 

  • Conduct regular reviews of accounts to identify potential issues. 

  • Recommend accounts for write-off after thorough evaluation and approval. 

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of write-offs and credit adjustments. 
     
     

Reporting and Analysis 
 

  • Prepare and present regular reports on credit limits, past due accounts, and collection activities. 

  • Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in credit and collections processes. 

  • Provide insights and recommendations to management.  
     
     

Customer Relations 
 

  • Maintain positive relationships with customers. 

  • Address and resolve customer inquiries and disputes. 

  • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to ensure seamless communication and customer satisfaction. 
     
     

Educational And Experience Requirements 
 

  • Two years of experience in accounting or a related field. 

  • Experience in credit and collections management. 

  • Understanding of credit risk assessment and collections practices. 

  • Excellent customer service and people skills.  

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
     
     

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 
 
This role requires sitting for extended periods of time and working at a desk. The individual will need to operate a computer using the keyboard and mouse. Minimal lifting is required above moving office related items and lifting a laptop/luggage to be able to travel as needed. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; reach above shoulders; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move office supplies, files, and reports weighing up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The role has high mental demands which requires strong comprehension, reasoning, decision making, math and computer software fluency.
