Veterinary Assistant - ICU

Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Referral (BVER) is a specialty animal hospital located in Portland Oregon. Our hospital team includes highly skilled veterinarians specializing in Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Ophthalmology and are supported by dedicated technicians and support staff.

Who are we looking for right now?

Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency & Referral is looking for experienced Veterinary Assistants for our ICU Department. We are seeking a highly skilled assistant for the overnight shift, working 3-12's 7:00pm-7:30am.

Essential Job Functions

Monitor patients’ vital signs and behavior, reporting any changes to attending DVM.

Administer medications and treatments as directed, including a strong foundation in medical math and medical calculations.

Perform diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests.

Support owners through education, stellar client communication, and reviewing discharges and updates with owners.

Maintain cleanliness of patients as well as the ICU space.

Required Skills

Minimum 2 years prior experience in an emergency veterinary hospital required.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong foundation in disease process and comfort with dealing with patients with

Ability to work in fast paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure.

Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills.
