Internist

Exceptional Internal Medicine Opportunity in Gig Harbor, Washington

About Us:

Puget Sound Veterinary Specialists is a new specialty hospital in the heart of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We are seeking a second internist to join our growing and dynamic team, and pride ourselves on being a progressive and inclusive practice. PSVS is recently built state-of-the-art, comprehensive, 24-hour ER and specialty hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington. PSVS was incepted to change the paradigm of today's veterinary medicine. We consider burnout, compassion fatigue, and toxic work environments antithetical to our goal of happy, committed, and highly skilled employees at all levels of the hospital.  Our core values of respect, integrity, compassion, and humility combine with our motto "Do the Right Thing."  These define the framework of how we practice medicine, care for ourselves, each other, our patients and their families. We prioritize quality of life and work-life balance to give time for our employees to enjoy everything the region has to offer and pursue personal hobbies and growth.

We are very proud of our horizontal team structure. Technical and support staff are highly valued and cherished as critical members of the team. This is evident in our shared bonus structure that is provided to all support staff as the hospital grows.  In addition to exemplary specialty and emergency medicine, we maintain a collaborative and collegial working environment that supports continued development and learning in our hospital at all levels.

The Opportunity

PSVS is looking for a second internist to join the internal medicine team, which started in June 2021. Our client and referral base are dedicated and willing to pursue advanced care and diagnostics. Here, you will have the support of the other specialties at PSVS, including surgery, neurology, ophthalmology, dentistry, and critical care. We have carefully fostered a collaborative and team approach to patient care that actually works and want you to feel a part of that.

Our new facility includes a dedicated ICU, 128-slice CT, MRI, ultrasound, in-house blood bank, I-131 therapy, minimally invasive surgery, flexible and rigid endoscopy, fluoroscopy, and more. A fully operational 24-hour ER service, currently located in a separate facility, will be transitioned into the new hospital to work with and under the purview of a dedicated critical care team and our board-certified criticalist.

Our ideal candidate is board-certified or board-eligible ACVIM, values and fosters a hospital culture of compassionate care, promotes teamwork, and is excited about the vision to expand our core values and hospital. Our candidate is collaborative across specialties and works extremely well with other internists and team members. Shared caseload, journal club, speaking engagements, and teaching opportunities are part of the internal medicine service.  Experience or interest in interventional radiology is welcome but not required.

For the Successful Applicant:

Life is not just about work!  We recognize that to be an excellent, satisfied clinician with longevity in this career, work-life balance is imperative.  This is a founding principle of our hospital.  Quality of life involves loving our jobs as well as pursuing our passions outside of work.  Imagine living on the beautiful, laid-back Olympic Peninsula, an outdoor-enthusiast's dream with mountains and the Puget Sound out your backdoor, and the Pacific Coast or desert a couple hours' drive away.  The metropolitan life of downtown Seattle is just a short drive or ferry trip away.
