Communications Specialist

Position Summary:

The Communications Specialist will work closely with operations, public relations, and marketing team members. This position will be responsible for developing and executing internal and external communications for Bass Pro Hospitality.

The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal communication skills and maintain the ability to track multiple projects at once while coordinating with key stakeholders is imperative. Following brand guidelines and templates to support the strategic marketing and communications goals to help attract, inform and engage clients, prospects as well as associates via email and text messaging marketing tactics, and other forms of digital communication.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Know, understand and be a steward of the core messages and missions of Bass Pro Shops hospitality.
  • Create on-brand email marketing campaigns to promote Big Cedar products and services.
  • Ensure marketing message is conveyed clearly and delivered properly.
  • Ensure emails, text messages, and other messages are sent using proper form and brand templates.
  • Develop and own detailed project plans to support communication goals and priorities.
  • Play key role in contributing to short- and long-term editorial calendar planning by sourcing story concepts and content ideation.
  • Develop timely messaging and schedules to target website and other third-party opt-in customers.
  • Test all external messages and platforms to ensure formatting is mobile-friendly.
  • Organize and maintain database of emails for lead generation.
  • Ongoing maintenance of internal email database including regular purges of non-deliverable email addresses and opt-outs.
  • Propose marketing copy Including persuasive 'call-to-actions' in external communications and promotions.
  • Track and analyze direct and interactive marketing campaigns using appropriate applications.
  • Use statistical analysis and reports to propose new campaigns.
  • Coordinate and monitor the maintenance, integrity, and security of multiple databases.
  • Become an Inntopia/Flybook Subject Matter Expert
  • Develop and code the list segmentation for all direct and interactive marketing campaigns in Inntopia.
  • Utilize Inntopia reporting techniques, including refining existing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), to help guide digital advertising buys and identify areas for improvement.
  • Partner with departmental managers across the resort to develop communications pushing upsell opportunities
  • Regularly benchmark against our established competitor set.
  • Maintain working knowledge and updates of online booking engines for both reservations and activities departments.
  • Plan, create and execute ongoing content strategies to advance Big Cedar Hospitality's mission amoung our internal departments and associates.
  • Partner with other communication specialist to align message timing and direction.
  • Coordinate deployment of existing marketing and operational-related content in a timely manner.
  • Publish core stories to support and further overall associate engagement.
  • Interact via online communications platform with teams and associates in a professional, personable and timely manner.
  • Track performance of all internal communications and determine effectiveness based on defined targets.
  • Generate reports on overall sentiment and notable trends, and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Edit, proof, and manage written drafts of communication projects and materials.
  • Flag opportunities for Associate Generated Content. 
  • Foster and strengthen relationships with all hospitality departments and managers.
  • Propose new strategies to promote engagement.

  • Ability to utilize strong project management skills including managing multiple projects at different stages simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Must adhere to all company/department safety standards and policies.
  • Utilize approved communications tools and platforms as assigned to communicate to appropriate audiences.
  • Adhere to the standard operating procedures for the communications department as directed by the Assistant Manager of Communications.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics
  • Working knowledge of Inntopia preferred, but not mandatory
  • Working knowledge of CRMs
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Working knowledge in activity reservation management
  • Working knowledge in dining reservation management
  • Work quickly and efficiently while delivering high quality projects and products
  • Understands best practices to generate images and content for web use
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite – especially Photoshop and InDesign.

 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education:  

  • Two years' experience in marketing, communications, advertising or administrative positions preferred.  
  • Proficient writer with a strong ability to communicate effectively via various types of written content.
  • Highly organized and able to track projects from inception to delivery.
  • Analytical/Critical Thinking - The ability to gather and organize information using a logical and systematic process; recognize patterns and relationships in complex data; examine data to identify implications, problems and draw appropriate conclusions; generate alternative solutions to problems; evaluate strengths, weaknesses and consequences of alternative solutions and approaches to solving problems.

  • Intermediate Computer Skills - Using basic computer hardware and software (e.g., personal computers, word processing software, Internet browsers, etc.). The ability to quickly master new software.
