Certified Veterinary Technician - ICU

Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Referral (BVER) is a specialty animal hospital located in Portland Oregon. Our hospital team includes highly skilled veterinarians specializing in Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Ophthalmology and are supported by dedicated technicians and support staff.

Who are we looking for right now?

Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency & Referral is looking for experienced Certified Veterinary Technicians, for our ICU team. Our ICU department offers 3–12-hour shifts. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in ER/ICU preferred. 

Essential Job Functions

• Monitor and care for hospitalized and critical patients
• Perform diagnostic tests and procedures and alert DVM of abnormal results
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by DVM
• Provide support and education to pet owners
• Maintain accurate medical records

Required Skills

• Valid certification as a veterinary technician in the state of Oregon (CVT)
• Prior experience in a specialty veterinary hospital preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in fast paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure 
• Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills
• Advanced catheter placement
• Strong knowledge of medications and potential drug interactions
• Assisting and monitoring of surgical and sedated procedures
