This is a full-time position that prepares meals for consumers in residential and acute care settings.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  • Measure ingredients required for specific food items being prepared according to the menu.
  • Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking.
  • Deliver prepared meals to facilities by scheduled eating times.
  • Clean kitchen area, utensils, and food preparation areas and surfaces.
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
  • Operate kitchen machinery such as oven, blender, mixer, microwave, dishwasher, etc.
  • Clean, stock, and restock workstations and pantry.
  • Seal, protect, and store left over food items in appropriate place (i.e. refrigerator).
  • Vacuum, sweep, and mop kitchen floor.
  • Collect and dispose of refuse.
  • Monitor and comply with established procedures for accidents, fires or other emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with facility rules.
  • Complete reports and paperwork as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to pass Food Handler's Certification.
  • Must be able to follow a menu and prepare meals according to menu.
  • Ability to read recipes; read and measure recipe ingredients. 
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, push, pull, and stand for longer periods of time. 
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution,
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Carastar's insurance carrier.
  • Must maintain at least liability coverage on personal vehicles.
  • Must maintain current CPI and Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certificates.  
  • Must pass Food Handler's Certification course.
