Cook
This is a full-time position that prepares meals for consumers in residential and acute care settings.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Measure ingredients required for specific food items being prepared according to the menu.
- Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking.
- Deliver prepared meals to facilities by scheduled eating times.
- Clean kitchen area, utensils, and food preparation areas and surfaces.
- Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
- Operate kitchen machinery such as oven, blender, mixer, microwave, dishwasher, etc.
- Clean, stock, and restock workstations and pantry.
- Seal, protect, and store left over food items in appropriate place (i.e. refrigerator).
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop kitchen floor.
- Collect and dispose of refuse.
- Monitor and comply with established procedures for accidents, fires or other emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with facility rules.
- Complete reports and paperwork as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to pass Food Handler's Certification.
- Must be able to follow a menu and prepare meals according to menu.
- Ability to read recipes; read and measure recipe ingredients.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, push, pull, and stand for longer periods of time.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution,
- Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Carastar's insurance carrier.
- Must maintain at least liability coverage on personal vehicles.
- Must maintain current CPI and Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certificates.
- Must pass Food Handler's Certification course.
