Maintenance Control Technician

We are seeking a full-time Maintenance Control Technician to join our maintenance team based in Newburyport, MA.

  • 1st shift (7:00 am – 3:30 pm), Monday – Friday
  • Pay range DOE: $43.00 - $48.00/hr
  • Plus SIGN-ON BONUS $$

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of Industrial Maintenance Control experience or two-year technical degree preferred.
  • Rockwell/OMRON PLC experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English required; preferably in both English and Spanish.
  • Must be able to successfully complete HACCP Certification.
  • Must have Forklift License or ability to complete required training within 90 days of hire.
  • Good verbal, written communication, and mathematical skills required.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and courteously interdepartmentally, as well as with co-workers and vendors required.
  • Working knowledge of ovens, bakery equipment, and packaging equipment preferred.
  • AIB Bakery Equipment training course helpful.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and basic PC skills required.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and repair electrical and mechanical defects.
  • Ability to serve as the Competency Specialist for the plant in Robotics, Thermography, PLCS & HMI.
  • Effectively complete assigned Preventative Maintenance Plans as scheduled to eliminate unplanned downtime.
  • Participate in RCA on equipment and process failures to provide insight into failure and suggest corrective actions.
  • Work well within a team environment and understand the team is stronger as a unified group versus a team of individuals.
  • Train operators on maintenance techniques when called to troubleshoot or repair equipment.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and other reliability tasks, assist in diagnostics, repairs and rebuilding of machines; partner with engineering or others on non-routine repairs and defect handling solutions.
  • Understand the management of Quality Systems and is familiar with SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices which help to ensure safety within the workplace and the production of a safe and quality product(s).
  • Perform other duties as required by Supervisor and reporting structure.
  • Document all Maintenance work activity within CMMS System.
  • Effectively support the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program with the goal of continually reducing unscheduled downtime.
  • Operate in the workplace in a safe and effective manner and adhere to mechanical/fluid power/electrical power and environmental rules and regulations for welding.
  • As competency specialist, you are responsible for setting the plant standards, while ensuring the plant standards align to Dessert Holdings’ standards.
  • Install, align and adjust mechanical power transmission components (Gearboxes/Bearings/Chains/Shafts/Gears).
  • Ability to apply standard evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard electrical/electronic techniques, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair power transmission, alignment of gears, and properly perform preventative maintenance to extend machine life and prevent unplanned downtimes.
  • Ability to use Hoist and other tools to safely rig and move parts and equipment.
  • Must have own tools (Required Tool List will be provided and needs to be on site within 2 weeks of hire).
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and test overall pneumatic system including use of vacuum generators given schematic.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and properly install electronic and process control systems, including ability to understand electrical diagrams and schematics to aid in troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Must be able to utilize Multi meter to measure, voltage, current, continuity, amperage, resistance for incoming and entire circuit, with ability to also calculate power in a circuit given current and voltage.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and test AC/DC/Servo Motors in a manual and automated control circuit.
  • Ability to properly Select, Download, Install and keep up to date (upgrades and new versions) software (Allen Bradley and OMRON Programming Suites), to connect to a PLC directly or remotely, to enable onsite or remote OEM support into program to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Ability to properly select a Work Sation for the respective programing software.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain high-speed industrial process equipment. This includes all electrical power at MCC’s (12 to 480 volts AC / 24 volts DC), PLC’s, HMI’s, VFD’s, Servo Drives, transducers, proximity sensors, photo eyes, and safety relay circuits).
  • Ensure efficient equipment operation through proper line control programming and proactively suggest methods to improve line performance.
  • Create and maintain up to date equipment map and catalog (Manuals, Prints, PLC Programs, HMI Programs, Network addressing, etc.).
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and install HMIs and PLCs, including ability to upgrade or downgrade firmware for current updated components and software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and aid in installation of new or upgraded robotics.
  • Ability to record all maintenance work within CMMS system and follow all CMMS processes and procedures.
  • Ability to utilize CMMS system records and OEM Drawings to help determine improvements for maintainability of equipment and identification of proper spare parts and parts cross over to standard MRO from OEM.
  • Must have a flexible schedule.
  • Must be willing to work overtime including weekends if necessary or called in case of an emergency.

  • Must be able to communicate with others to ensure proper production flow to avoid line downtime or disruptions.
  • Must communicate with appropriate personnel to maintain plant to the best of our ability
  • Must perform job tasks in a safe and professional manner.
