Position: Mechanical Engineer

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our High Speed Engineering team. The position will be located in Nashua, NH.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Mechanical Engineer on the HSIO Products team you will support to the design, development and selection of basic hardware components utilizing fundamental mechanical engineering principles, theories and techniques. Assigned duties may include:
- Design and development of specific elements of High-Speed IO Interconnect and Cable devices or components to meet specified design requirements. May receive direction from senior engineering staff and may be responsible to provide direction to drafting.
- Perform Mechanical Analyses- Obtain working knowledge of company standard analysis tools. Perform basic static, dynamic and heat transfer analyses of mechanical structures, when required. Compile data for investigation by senior mechanical engineering personnel. Participate in design reviews.
- Support Verification/Validation of Design- Support the fabrication and environmental testing of High-Speed IO Interconnect devices. Assist in the design and fabrication of prototype hardware. Support the environmental testing of hardware including vibration, shock, thermal, fatigue and others as required. Document results for review by senior engineering personnel.
- Prepare Documentation- Generate and review the technical content of drawings, engineering specifications, reports and other documentation associated with the mechanical design. Generate and present design review packages for internal and external audiences.
- Support Continuous Improvement- Conduct failure analysis of product returned from field and qualification failures. Lead customization efforts on assigned product lines when required.
- Lead sustainment efforts on assigned product lines- Provide Mechanical Engineering support to products in production. Manage material issues, perform root cause assessments of discovered issues. perform analysis as required to verify validity of proposed solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred)
- 3-5 years of electromechanical product design/support experience
- Strong Mechanical Aptitude
- Familiarity with Structural and Thermal FEA software and capability.
- Grasp of basic electrical theory.
- Ability to support design and development of hardware to ensure requirements compliance
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and perform tolerance assessments. Experience with ASME Y-14.5 is a definite plus.
- Ability to perform basic mechanical analysis to ensure good design.
- Proficiency with Solidworks 2018 or higher
- Ability to conduct experimentation and basic testing. Familiarity with basic measurement tools and multimeters.
- Good communication skills and organizational skills
