Senior Process Engineer
Position: Senior/Staff Assembly Design/Process Engineer
Location: Valley Green, PA

This is an opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer to join a global technology company that is the leader in the high-speed interconnect industry. You will be an integral part of a team responsible for new product development. Development team engineering disciplines include Mechanical Design, Signal Integrity, Mechanical Integrity, Manufacturing, Process Development and Meeting Cost and Customer Objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Influence design characteristics for improved manufacturability, efficiency and reliability,
- Maintain and improve existing manufacturing processes.
- Develop assembly concepts, writing scope of work documents, designing, testing, and deploying tooling and automation.
- Work closely with external suppliers and manufacturers, supporting the development, fabrication and build of prototypes, pilot production and deployment of high-volume factory automation. Candidates should also have experience with machining processes as well as design.
- Ability to bring the product design and product component together in an assembly process being it a manual or automated process understanding how the incoming processes can have an effect on the overall assembly process.
- Develop and document assembly processes, spare parts lists, and preventative maintenance plan.
- Prepare equipment and systems specifications.
- Work with team IEs to formulate the process step cycle times, efficiencies, yields and step relationships to include dynamic modeling as required for process and line balance assumptions. (Arrangement, Rates, Balance, Yield, Utility, Capacity)
- Define the process steps and sequence of operations, material handling and process control needs and to the extent possible, the preliminary process layout.
- Work with team on Product/Process DFMs, FMEAs and risk assessment activities.
- Work with team to define critical product/process parameters relating to product documentation nominals and tolerances and they are related to process functions.
- Evaluate Safety and Occupational health summary for process.
- Provide cost and operational criteria via internal and external resources for the justification and acquisition of major tooling.
- Propose and implement cost reduction activities for mature assembly processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from a four-year university with 5+ years related experience and/or training within the connector industry, preferred.
Basic Knowledge with the following processes:
o Progressive stamping and Lead-frame Slugout
o Injection molding and Insert molding, Lead-frame Over-molding
o Small component handling and assembly
o Terminal plating
o New product development
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical product drawings, interpret technical procedures, write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
• Ability to solve practical and technical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Should have knowledge and skills using:
o Proficient with solid modeling tools, (Creo, Solid Works, AutoCAD)
o Have experience with automation, PLCs, Machine Vision and electrical controls
o Project Management Experience
o Project Management software (MS Project)
o Spreadsheet software (Excel)
o Presentation software (PowerPoint)
• Ability to communicate and relate with assembly process engineers in each region of the world.
• Ability to provide technical design and process information relating to product manufacturability, process and design costs, process risk assessment and product capability assessment.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot equipment and determine root causes for assembly issues.
