Category Manager

The Category Manager covers the specific commodity of passive parts and the supply through distribution.  By maintaining the relationship with key suppliers, the role is responsible for yearly pricing negotiation by collecting volumes coming from the different manufacturing locations selected by the DAS business units.  

The primary activity this category manager is working with Distribution partners that are working to supply electronic parts to the PCBA manufacturers.  Cost reduction initiatives, localization programs and new vendor search are all activities supported by this role in collaboration with other departments (R&D, NPI, Operations, PLM etc.) 

Strong connection with R&D during the initial design phase to support parts selection as well as with Component engineering and inventory management to support EOL/LTB decisions.  Main interface and escalation point for manufacturing location in case of shortages or lead time issues. 

The role will be based in China or Vietnam.  

How You'll Help Us Connect the World:

·Manage relationship with main Distributors supplying electronic parts.   

·Support overall passive electronic components strategy with key suppliers.  

·Escalation point for electronic shortages coming from CM’s 

·Collect global demand and manage price negotiation with electronic suppliers and distributors. 

·Works on localization programs for cost reduction looking for alternatives in the market and collaborating with R&D supports the new product introduction.  

·Support as EOL/LTB process. 

·Manage contracts/agreements with subset of suppliers of responsibility.  

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

·Bachelor/Master in a related field required.  MBA or advanced degree are a plus 

·10 years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, category management, or related field required. 

·Experience in the electronic market, EMS and contract manufacturing management.  

·Must have successful and progressive management experience. 

·Excellent verbal and written skills required. 

·Must be skillful at influencing decisions and opinions, negotiating, and building consensus. 

·Excellent organizational skills required. 

·Must have strong cultural sensitivity to manage relationships with people from all cultures. 

·Strong cooperative and teamwork attitude is needed.  

·International travel possibly required in this position (<10%)
