Carpenter

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  To perform and or instruct general carpenter skills both rough and finish of wood, metal, masonry, indigenous and composition materials, and to perform and/or instruct in mill work cabinet making and repairs.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform repairs of all structures including walls, doors, flooring, both interior and exterior, rough and finish work. 
  • Perform cabinet and furniture repairs and new construction. 
  • Provide cost and labor estimates for new construction, remodel, cabinets, and equipment installations in accordance with local, state and OSHA requirements. 
  • Provide inventory status and make weekly recommendations for required parts, and supplies. 
  • Train associates in safe and proper procedures of carpentry tools, equipment, repairs and construction techniques in accordance with local, state, and OSHA requirements. 
  • Acquire a working knowledge of the Lodge and facilities to respond appropriately to guest questions, as required. 
  • Keep supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to her/his attention so prompt action can be taken when appropriate. 
  • Will perform other duties as required.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required:  High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred Degree:  Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
  • Certificate(s) or License(s): Missouri class E or Arkansas class D with a “P” endorsement designated driver's license and a safe driving record is required. 
  • Years of experience:  One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Ability to work well with a team, to prioritize, a sense of urgency and a real concern for guest satisfaction is required. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations 
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Additional Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 50 to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
